Tire Gauge Accuracy

!±8± Tire Gauge Accuracy

The tire gauge accuracy is measured by a tire pressure gauge. Most of you may have used one or at least seen one when you did the gas station when you when to put fuel in your car. There are two types of air pressure gauges in the marketplace today and they are analog and digital. The analog gauge is the one which we all have seen a lot, it the round face analog tire pressure gauges. The fuel station analog gauges where once the industry standard.

However, thing have changed. And, these analog gauges do not provide the right tire gauge accuracy. They are almost worthless when it comes to properly measuring air pressure inside your tires.

Having said that, we have to understand that tire gauge accuracy is more than an analog and digital disparity. Depending upon the time of the day you conduct your tire pressure reading you can have completely different results. You may then want to question why does this take place?

We all tend to forget what is the best time is in a day to check the pressure in your vehicles tires and why? The answer is very simple; check your tire pressure only at a time when your tires are cool before they get warmed up. This would give you the optimum tire gauge accuracy. So now the next question why does this scenario take place? Well, the correct answer is; the tire pressure your vehicle manufacture recommends is the "cold" air pressure. When you drive your vehicle or pull a trailer the air inside the tires gets hot and when air gets hot it expands thus increasing the tires air pressure.

The above discussion has explained why and when you can achieve the maximum tire gauge accuracy. Now, the next step! Well, to gauge the tire gauge accuracy you would need more then just time of the day, you need good equipment. Not that the analog gauges are bad or completely wrong, but they can still be off by as much as 15 psi. That's a huge plus or minus ranges for a tire gauge.

Now, if we suggest digital reading you may be able to accept it especially know the fat that a digital gauge show you the tire pressure with a plus or minus of .05 psi over a range of 5 - 150 psi and come with a 5 year warranty. As you know digital is replace analog everywhere you look from electronic to TV reception, well tire gauges accuracy are no exception.

2010 Nissan Murano LE Test Drive

!±8± 2010 Nissan Murano LE Test Drive

I recently had a wonderful Nissan Murano SUV for a week-long test drive. The Nissan Murano is a clean-looking, and functional SUV. The Murano is a mid-sized, family-oriented SUV that is attractive, versatile, and well-equipped.

The Murano was redesigned for 2009 and the 2010 model hasn't been changed very much. The instrument panel has been rearranged and some of the gauges and interior are slightly more upscale. Some people like the exterior looks while others are somewhat critical. The fenders arch upwards and slightly out over the wheels. This is not unlike several other SUV's, but I like the looks and think that it gives a strong, bold appearance.

The Nissan Murano is set on the same platform as the midsize Altima sedan, so it is classified as a "mid-size SUV." It seats five comfortably and is available in three trim levels - S, SL, and LE. Our test model was the high-end LE, but with front-wheel drive. All the Murano models are available in either All-Wheel Drive or front-wheel drive. The deep red exterior color on the test model was called "Merlot."

The Nissan Murano is powered by a 265 horsepower, 3.5 liter, V-6 engine matched with a Continuously Variable Transmission. The CVT automatic works well and the engine provides all the power needed for a mid-sized vehicle. Towing capacity is listed at 3,500 pounds, but that is enough for small camping trailers and boats.

The interior uses a lot of soft plastics wood tones, and more upscale materials than previous models. The instrument cluster is pleasingly arranged and uses a subdued orange lighting instead of the bright blue, black, or white more commonly found in SUV's. The controls are easy to use and there are plenty of storage bins and compartments.

A long list of standard equipment was listed on the Spec Sheet as "comfort and convenience" items. These included an eight-way powered driver's seat and a four-way powered passenger seat. Front and rear seats were heated and all upholstery was leather. A rearview backup camera was standard and I am definitely a big supporter of the backup camera for all vehicles. I like the powered tilt and telescoping steering wheel and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

For safety purposes, the Nissan Murano has front-side airbags, curtain-side airbags, traction control, antiskid system, tire-pressure monitoring, and electronic brake assist. It scored 5 stars in the government safety ratings for side crashes, 4 stars in frontal crash, and 4 stars in rollover tests.

Our test model had an MSRP of ,580. The only add-on was floor mats at 5 and delivery charges of 0. The bottom sticker price showed ,565. EPA fuel ratings for the Murano are 18 city and 23 highway, although I averaged 24 for the entire week of driving. Maybe I just didn't put the pedal to the metal very often during the test drive period.

The 2010 Nissan Murano is a very functional and useful mid-sized SUV that looks good both inside and out. Check it out yourself at a Nissan dealership.

How To: Check Tire Pressure and Inflate Tires by Edmunds.com

www.edmunds.com Underinflated tires might cause an accident that could kill you. Need another reason for inflating your tires? Underinflated tires increase tire wear, which could burn through a set of 0 tires a year early. Need another reason? Underinflated tires waste gas. How much gas? The Department of Transportation estimates that 5 million gallons of fuel per day are wasted due to low tire pressure. That's more than 2 billion gallons per year, just because people don't take the time to inflate their tires properly. OK, OK, you get the point. Inflating your tires to the specified pressure is important. So make it a habit to check and refill your tires once a month. And remember, you can't tell if a tire is underinflated just by looking at it. If it actually looks underinflated, it is way underinflated.

Importance of Pressure Measuring Devices

!±8± Importance of Pressure Measuring Devices

Most of our industrial mechanical systems are run through hydraulic pressure. For example you might have seen huge hydraulic press in some industrial units which are used to press different items. These are run by hydraulic pressure. Similarly, you may have seen the car lifters in motor workshop or motor service pumps. These hydraulic lifters can lift the large forks to a desirable height. The mechanic thus lifts your vehicle up to desired height for different maintenance jobs. This elevated position of your car enables him to work on the lower body of the vehicle which he cannot approach without lifting the vehicle to a certain height.

Also you may have seen some kinds of air pumps. Electrical motors are mounted on the top of ironic cylindrical body. Air is filled in the tank with the help of electric motor which enable pump to work. The cylinder is made up of iron and the edges are electronically welded. Each cylinder has its specific capacity to accommodate air pressure. To judge that capacity of cylinder, some type of gauge is used which is known as hydraulic measuring equipment. This device helps you fill the cylinder to a specific level by viewing reading from the gauge.

All the above examples explain importance of pressure measuring hydraulic gauges. If there were no such instruments installed with the above set ups, you could not be able to judge the air pressure thus leading to some unwanted incidence. A hydraulic gauge is usually a small round shaped instrument which is equipped with a dial and one or two needles pointing to different levels mentioned on the dial. The pointing needles move with increasing pressure and thus you can judge the inner pressure. There are a number of hydraulic pressure measuring equipments available in the market. You can select one according to requirement of your job.
